Jade sat sitting on a swing set in an empty park. The only other person there was an elderly woman eating lunch underneath a tree about fifty yards away. She flipped her black hair out of her eyes, brushing it to the side of her face. Her outfit that day was a very usual one; a white camisole with a tight black hoodie with A Skylit Drives' insignia, dark gray skinny jeans and black flats with white polka dots and red lining. She was using her top teeth to play around with one of her lip rings, tasting the bitter cold metal stud. Her feet were placed precariously on the ground, hardly touching the earth, and she was slowly pushing herself back and forth. Her brother had went to work and she didn't want to be in the house alone for too long so she came to the park. She looked at the empty park, wondering if anyone would come around.

Ryan didn't have to work that day. His mother was taking a late shift, and Becka was off with a girl down the street, so he decided to get out of the house. He was sitting on the couch, flipping boredly through the channels of the television with a yawn. Ryan turned off the Tv, standing up and walking into his room. He reached into his closet and pulled out a black hoodie, slipping it on over his white t-shirt. Ryan didn't feel a need to change out of his jeans, and he walked back into the livingroom. He was wearing his favorite shoes, black Etnies that had white laces. Ryan picked up his skateboard where it had been leaned against the wall next to the door.
He walked to the park. It was about five minutes away, he could see it from his house. Ryan had just set foot on the top step of the ladder that led to the top of the halfpipe when he saw a girl sitting alone on the swings. He wanted to skate on the half-pipe, but at the same time, Ryan didn't like seeing people sitting alone-looking bored. Ryan left his skateboard on the top of the halfpipe and walked down the the curve of it, jumping off and stepping on the concrete. He put his hands in the pockets of his jacket, puffing air as he walked through the grass and towards the swings. Ryan had decided the girl must be a punk; She was old enough to be in high school-and preps didn't dare set foot in this park.
As Ryan ot to be only feet away from the girl, he waved a friendly wave. "Hey." He said with a nod, deciding he had seen this girl around school. She looked younger than him, and wasn't in any of his classes, so Ryan decided the girl was a sophomore, maybe... But she could still be a freshman. Ryan stopped next to the silver pole that stood on the side of the swings, keeping it sturdy and in the ground. "I'm Ryan." He knew she might think that he was just coming over to hit on her, but he wasn't. It wasn't that she wasn't pretty enough, because she was easy on the eyes, but Ryan was just a nice guy. "I saw you sitting over here and thought I'd come hang out with you, if thats okay." He smiled slightly, walking over to the other swing and sitting down.

Jade looked up at the guy, surprised by his presence. In truth she had noticed him walk into the park with his skateboard. She knew by both his appearance and the fact that he was in this crappy park that he had to be a punk. She eyed his skateboard which lay over by the half pipe and his baggy jeans. She smiled a little, happy to have an interruption in her thinking.
"Hey," she repeated, looking up into his eyes. She had seen him around school if she remembered correctly and she was pretty sure he was a junior since he wasn't in any of her classes and didn't look old enough to be a senior.
"Jade," she said quietly. Her voice was almost always so quiet most people didn't hear her. Luckily there was no other noise around them so she was positive he heard her reply. "Feel free. I feel like I'm about to just keel over out of boredom," she said, laughing lightly. She watched as he sat on the swing next to her. It was rather comical, really, seeing a sixteen or seventeen year old sitting on an old rusted swing. She smiled a little wider, letting down her personal barriers a bit more.

Ryan let his swing sway lightly in the wind, taking off the hat that he had been wearing only to replace it and adjust its position on his head. He rubbed his hands together before placing each of them on one of the rusted chains of the swing he was sitting on. "I felt the same way at home." Ryan smirked, motioning with just his eyes at his skateboard. "So I was going to come and skate for a while, at least until my mom got home." He said with a nod. Ryan backed up his swing, to where his legs were holding him and the swing up. He walked his legs forward until he and the swing were in the basic position, randomly filling his time. "You go to Brookside, right?" Ryan asked Jade, looking at her with his head tilted to the side, the question still on his face. He knew she did already, of course, but this was his way of finding out what grade she was in.

"My brother tried to teach me how to skate once..." she said in her quiet, misty voice. "I refused. I don't trust myself with that sort of coordination," she said, laughing softly. She knew she was actually very coordinated, she was just afraid of the falling involved with skating.
"Yeah, I go to Brookside. I'm a sophmore," she went on, smiling kindly at him. She gently began to push herself a little more so that her feet were about five inches off of the ground at the most. "You do too, right? I think I've seen you around," she explained, her voice trailing off at the end. She looked around, finding that the elderly woman had left and now they were the only two in the desolate park.

Ryan nodded his head slowly. Sophomore. He told himself, remembering for the future, or at least the rest of the day. "Yeah. I'm a junior." Ryan said with a nod, the breeze blowing at his hair. he smoothed it back out, swaying once more in the wind.
[oh. my. god. that sucked alot. writers block.]

[ no worries, it's not a problem]
Jade could tell he was bored and she hated when people around her were bored. She didn't really understand why she felt so strongly about it... But she did. "C'mon," she said, jumping up from the swing. "Wanna help me learn to skate?" she said, smiling a little mischeviously. She began to walk over to the half pipe, her hips swinging way too much, heading for where his board was set up. She looked over her shoulder, laughing.
"Don't question my randomness," she said, rolling her eyes. "You comin' or not?"

[*okay, nevermind, we deleted it]
Ryan had stood up when she did, staring after her in bewilderment. "Uh yeah." He followed when she looked back, taking a jog until he got to the half-pipe. Ryan stopped and looked at Jade, studying her for a second. "You're going to skateboard in those?" He motioned to her shoes, his face utterly doubtful. "You'd be better off barefoot. Your feet have more grip than those shoes." Ryan nodded, walking up the halfpipe until the slope was too high, but he could reach up and lift himself onto the platform with his arms. As he swung his body onto the platform, he stood up, steadying himself in the altitude. Ryan took his skateboard from where he had left it, placing it on the platform and standing on it with one foot, waiting for Jade to join him on the platform.

"Mkay," she said, happily kicking off her flats on the ground and stepping onto the half pipe. She preferred to be bare foot anyway, it seemed more... natural for her. She quickly scaled the slope with ease, grabbing hold of the platform and pulling herself up quickly. She had never skateboarded on a half pipe but she had been up on one before so it wasn't exactly much of a challenge for her as it ought to be.
"Feel free to start," she said, smiling weakly. She was, as she should be, fairly nervous about it.

Ryan waited as she climbed the halfpipe, rolling his skateboard back and forth with his one foot. "Okay, I'll demonstrate once, but I want you to watch closely." He nodded before standing with one foot on the end of his skateboard, the front of it rising over the edge of the platform. Ryan lightly touched the top of his skateboard with his shoe, before pushing against it until all four wheels were rolling over the halfpipe. He rode to the other side, but he was going slowly, so he only got one or two feet of air as his board rose above the opposite platform's edge.
Ryan turned and landed his board on the halfpipe again, bending his knees on impact. He felt all four wheels of his skateboard rolling along on the wooden halfpipe below his feet, smelling the cold winter air and feeling the wind struggle against his jacket. Ryan always felt at home on the halfpipe, he could spend most of his time there and never get bored of it. He coasted his board over the edge of the platform Jade was standing on, soaring in the air a foot or two again. Ryan let his board slip from under him and caught it in the air as he landed on both feet atop the platform.
"Cake." He smiled, putting his skateboard back on the platform. "Come on, stand on it." Ryan said, beckoning with both hands from the other side of the skateboard. He held out both arms while waiting on Jade to get on the skateboard, so it wouldn't roll out from under her and send her flying. Ryan remembered his first wipout. He was barely six, and his dad had bought him a skateboard for his birthday. His dad brought him to the park to skate along the sidewalk. Ryan was skateboarding before he was riding a bike, but the first wipeout was always painful.

Jade smiled wickedly, taking the board from him almost violently, and dropping it onto the platform, steadying it with her foot. "I'm a fast learner," she said, chuckling, sending herself over the edge. It had to be obvious to him that she had skated for quite a bit of her life. The ease at which she held herself on the board was quite natural to her and she must've rose four or five feet, small for her, when she reached the other side.
She wasn't wearing shoes, of course, and it was rather unpleasant to have her feet on the grip tape of the board. When she reached the other side of the half pipe she landed up on the platform, catching the board with her left her, her knees bent on impact. She smile shyly, looking up at him. "I've had a little practice," she shrugged, blushing a little. "I've never done a half pipe though. It's fun," she smiled, her bright teeth flashing before him.

Ryan watched the ease with which she skated, crossing his arms over his chest. When Jade stopped on the other side of the halfpipe, he looked confused, but he smirked anyways. Ryan started walking down the halfpipe again, starting to talk. "Are you the same girl that just asked me to teach you how to skateboard?" He asked, stopping at the bottom and stepping off of the wood, onto the concrete. "You're natural." Ryan said, looking up at Jade, still on the platform of the halfpipe.

She smiled, pleased that he wasn't angry that she technically just lied to him. "Sadly yes, I am that girl," she said, giggling a little. She hated when she giggled. It was so... preppy. "Thanks," she said modestly. "But you're way better man. Like seriously, I'm very jealous of your mad skazizles," she said, chuckling at her words of choice. "How long have you been skating?" she questioned curiously. She brushed her bangs to the side of her face since they were falling into her eye.

Ryan walked over to a picnic table a few fet away, sitting on its surface. He looked up and over at Jade, smirking. "Thanks, I guess I do it enough I should be some kind of good." Ryan nodded, laughing himself at what she said. He sat for a little while staring off in the distance at the swings they had recently vacated, creaking with rusty repetitiveness as the breeze hit them. "Well, my dad bought me my first skateboard when I was six." He said in response to Jade's question. "And I've been at it ever since." Ryan smiled. "What about you? With skills like that you can't be a beginner." He asked with a questioning face.
